Soon after we arrived in our new home on our property, we "adopted" Tripi. She joined two "outside"
cats we already had - semi-feral cats who decided we needed caring for, Smoky, a grey Persian, and Tuffy, a battle-scarred
tom-cat. Smoky is the dominant cat, for sure, but Tripi soon became the Princess of the place.
Unfortunately,
early December, 2006, we discovered Tripi injured badly. Some animal in the woods had either clawed her or bit her bad
at the base of her spine. It looked like she had been trying to escape up a tree and was pulled back.
We took her to the vet clinic, and they pulled her through, but had to debride necrotic skin a few times. Since the
wound was so deep and in a place where the muscles and skin are pulled whenever she jumps and moves, the skin has not completely
regrown yet. Marge and I do wound-care every 2 to 3 days now (down from daily), and still take her to the vet for periodic
care. She is a two thousand dollar cat!
The wound is now closed to about 3 by 4
inches, and we can hardly wait until no more wound care. The montage above is displayed in one of the Vet's exam
rooms.
The vets and techs all love Trippi. The vet said the most important thing was for Trippi to still
"feel" like a cat. Believe me, Trippi feels like a princess!
Needless
to say, Tripi is now an inside cat, and will remain so!
